Yes, weed is legal in Amherst—as well as in the rest of Massachusetts. While you can legally enjoy recreational or medicinal weed throughout the state, it’s important to understand the confines of the law in order to legally enjoy cannabis.
In Massachusetts, you’re able to have up to an ounce of weed on you at any time. In your primary residence, you’re able to have up to ten ounces of marijuana in your home. Exceeding these amounts can result in hefty federal fines and penalties.
When it comes to consuming marijuana in public, Massachusetts law allows you to use marijuana products anywhere that you’re allowed to smoke cigarettes. Of course, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal and carries penalties similar to that of a DUI.
Mass Alternative Care now accepts debit cards as well as cash. Our facility also has two ATMs on site. At this time, credit cards are not accepted forms of payment. Please ask an associate for all all details when using a debit card in-store.
Yes you can visit MAC, however, out of state medical cards are not accepted in the State of Massachusetts for purchase of medical marijuana. Without a MA medical card, all purchases will be recreational purchases.
The State of Massachusetts does not allow any discounts on recreational marijuana products. On the medical side, discounts and promotions are allowed to our medical marijuana patients. For more information about MAC’s discounts, visit here.
Masks are required for all employees, patients, and customers (unless not possible due to a medical condition).
Hand sanitizer is placed at the entrance of the dispensary and throughout the dispensary for customers, patients, and employees to use.
Frequent hand sanitizing/washing is required for all employees. Partitions are installed at all registers. Full store sanitization will take place every 30 minutes, and will include highcontact areas/surfaces, ATMs, and debit machines.
We have reduced store capacity to 40%, including employees and customers. Lines have distancing markers spaced six feet apart, both outside and in-store, to ensure social distancing.
Digital menus are available to ensure patient and customer safety.
We encourage all customers and employees to stay home if they are sick or experiencing any potential COVID-19 symptoms.
Under Massachusetts Service Animal Law and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are allowed to accompany their handlers in the dispensary. Emotional Support Animals (ESA) are not permitted to enter the dispensary.
If you purchase marijuana in Massachusetts, it’s important that you only transport and store weed within state lines. Even when cannabis products are purchased legally, it’s a federal crime to transport them over state lines (even if the cannabis was purchased legally).
Adults may possess up to 1oz of flower, or 5 grams of concentrate, or 500mg of edibles on them at a time. MAC places internal limits on certain products due to the demand. Internal limits allow for increased access among many consumers rather than a select few. Up to date limits can be found on our Adult Use Menu.
Yes you can! MAC accepts state IDs, driver licenses, passports, or military IDs. All forms of identification must not be expired, unless you expired after 3/1/2020 and your state has extended ID expiration dates due to COVID.
